50 & 51 Weeks Old....

I am SO behind on blog updates. Matthew's birthday party, visitors, & the wedding pushed everything aside! I promise I will be getting everything up as fast as I can. I also have not taken Matthew's 49, 50, or 51 week photo :( but he will be ONE next week, & I think I wanna do monthly updates after that, we will see. Matthew has had a hectic 2 weeks, along with Adam & I. I never realized he was going to be so bashful & actually get upset when there were too many people around, he is normally so outgoing & loud.

He was totally wiped out at his first birthday party. After he did the "cake smash" he was off to sleep & we all waited till he woke up for him to open presents. (couldn't do it without him ;)) Which reminds me, I should REALLY stop using the bottle, ugh, its so hard. He will drink out of a straw, but won't drink out of a sippy cup, what am I supposed to do? Help.

We got to go to the pool for the first time in over a month. This Georgia weather is really ridiculous  We have been to the pool around 5 times, & we have literally gone every day it was even possible to go to the pool, at least nice enough to go. We actually went at night this time anyway, missed out on the tanning hours lol. He had so much fun though, he really missed the pool. My mom & friend Katie were so shocked at how well he did in the water, every time he goes under when he falls he gets right back up no coughing or anything, actually smiling lol! Total water baby.

We went to the water park with my friend Katie, sister Annie, brother Ethan, & Adam!! Matthew & I got matching water shoes :) Matthew went down his first water slide alone & with me!! We rode together on a wide short one, & then he went on his tummy backwards on a short skinny one. I'm not sure he really liked either of them, I think they frightened him, but he loved running through the kid area with all the water squirting up & from side to side.

Pure joy. Loved being at the water park & getting to be strolled around outside the whole day. He wasn't a fan of the life jacket much at all haha.

The "I'm about to throw a fit" face :)

Jayhawk fans :)

Matthew's first pair of separate jammies :) Isn't he precious?!?!?!?!

Shopping at the new outlet mall :) Still can't believe I live 2 miles or less away from a whole outlet mall!! Kansas people aren't used to that ;)

In a new stage of sleeping anywhere. He will purposely roll off of his boppy just to lay on the floor next to it, or he will just pass out mid playing.

Eating dinner :) & playing with cellphones of course.

Matthew kept himself preoccupied the entire rehearsal dinner by running around with my friend Lynn's phone & listening to music on it.

Matthew's best friend = wipes.

Matthew loves to walk with us to get frozen yogurt :) He always wants another bite of it, even though eat bite he makes a crazy face because its so cold!!

  1. He is too cute!!! My Samantha won't drink milk out of a sippy either! She will drink water, but not milk. I don't know what to do either! And she will be 17 months in a few days!

  4. He doesn't have to use a sippy cup. He can go straight to a straw cup (or open cup). My second was able to use a straw by her first birthday, so that's what she did. She never used a sippy cup after she turned one. And the twins are now able to use the Thermos straw cups, so that's what they are starting to use, too, at 12 months old. My favorite straw cups for toddlers are the Thermos ones. You'll find them in the lunchbox aisle of Target. Right now, they have lots of designs on hand for back-to-school shopping. They keep drinks cold for up to 12 hours!! And they hold 12 ounces, so (the ped recommended 12-16 ounces per day), so I can fill it in the morning, use that cup for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and know when we've hit 12 ounces for the day.

One less weaning phase by switching straight to a straw. My five-year-old still uses the Thermos straw cups when I pack his lunch for school.
