13 Weeks

Of course it's only been a week, but I'll tell you what, A LOT can happen in 1 week or even a day with a baby. General things are the same, but they continue to change & fast. Still don't know about the weight & height. I would guesstimate around 13 lbs, maybe 14 at the most. Still debating in my head over the immunizations coming up in a month for his 4 month appointment.

Health: Other then a few sneezes & coughs when he gets super mad at us, he is a growing & happy boy. I have yet to experience a diaper rash (hope that didn't jinx it). Do babies normally get diaper rash? I bought a ton of bottles of cream & haven't opened any. The poor little guy keeps spitting up after every meal, except the night time feedings. Maybe we are picking him up & playing too soon or need to switch back to size 1 nipples? We are using size 2.

Nutrition: Matthew is taking 4 oz every 2-3 again. He doesn't want to eat a lot all at once, so I think continuing to feed him oz instead of 6 just in closer intervals works for him. Like I said he is spitting up, so maybe he is getting too much. By the way, we love life factory bottles (the glass ones with silicone slip covers) they are so awesome. We are using the 4 oz size ones right now, we tried to transition to the 9 oz ones but I don't think he likes that they are heavier.

Social: He hasn't been very talkative this week, but we are still getting a bunch of coos & caas. He is so sweet, he likes to mimic what I do with my mouth & tries so hard to say what I'm saying or make the same noise as me. He likes to make a loud "WAAAA" sound like he is about to burst out in tears, but then he is just completely silent. Too funny. Gah, look at those glossy blue eyes.

Sleep: This week has been AWESOME. We are getting 8-9 hours of sleep. He is going to bed at like 2 or 3 & sleeping till like 10 or later. I've defiantly been feeling a lot more rested. I think he is enjoying the rock n play sleeper because he doesn't feel our movements on the bed. Plus he isn't in the bed with us so this will hopefully make it easier to transition him in his own bed eventually (if I ever give in :)). We are still swaddling him as well. He seems to like that the most.

Toys: He still doesn't show an interest in toys, he does like the noise but doesn't want to hold them. We had a few break through s with the play mat hanging toys, where he wanted to pull them for a while. He is mainly interested with us, colors, books, noises, and his hands.

He thinks Adam & I are the funniest people in the world lol. The faces he makes at us are priceless. He sure does love when I sing the "itsy bitsy spider" song & make the movements with his arms & I crawl up his belly with my hands.

Clothing: We are still in size 0-3 months. & size 2 diapers. I think my little babe's tummy is getting so chubby we may have to bump up to 3 very soon. But lets get through these last 2 sleeves of diapers :)

Leg warmers are not just for girls, they look precious on my little guy at least :) I got these at Von Maur for 3$!! The only problem is his little legs are so chunky it was too hard to pull them all the way up his thigh because they were too tight & I didn't want him to be uncomfortable.

& I had to show off these baby sperrys!!!! Aren't these so adorable :) Excuse mine, they look a little dirty. They are a size too big for him still, I wan't to make sure he could wear them when he started walking!!

  1. He may have reflux. My daughter has severe reflux. We thicken her feeds with a tsp per ounce or formula per doctors recommendation. Also I'd recommend a tummy sensitive bottle that will help with getting less air which will help keep the spit up Tia minimum. Also have him sit upright for 20-30minutes after a feeding.

Love his smile by the way!

  9. Look at him sportin' such cute outfits! And my little guy is still in the rock'n'play...he's a squirmy guy so I dread the day I put him in the crib b/c I think even if he's swaddled his reflexes will wake him up.
